"A theatrical triumph…so real…raw and poignant…" Charleston Daily
“…a theatrical triumph…so real…so raw and so poignant…one of the best performances of the Spoleto season 2017…” Mark Leon, Charleston Daily -- “…commanding…a true American hero…uplifting….” Chase Ferren, Post & Courier -- “Congratulations! …so very powerful… Kyle is simply magnificent." Mick Leavitt, Broadway producer --- Back by popular demand, Actors’ Theatre of South Carolina presents "Frederick Douglass…No Turning Back" for Black History month. Taking place in 1872, in a church in Ohio, Mister Douglass is on one of his numerous speaking tours. He reveals some of his wildest adventures through irony, humor and heartrending truth of becoming a free man and decades of efforts to bring freedom to those enslaved, first in America and then around the world. Frederick Douglass was one of our greatest American heroes, an electrifying orator, abolitionist, statesman, Christian leader, and newspaper editor. He thrilled and inspired audiences across America and England. Mr. Douglass’s brave journey, wisdom, wit and gospel voice create life-changing theater very timely for all audiences age 10 and up! Show runs one hour. TIX: Eventbrite.com -- however, you may buy tickets one hour prior to show - no reserved seating - doors open 3:00 pm - show 4:00 pm -- wheelchair access
